Luynes, a charming stopover nestling in the heart of the Loire Valley, just fifteen minutes from Tours. With its medieval heritage, troglodyte landscapes and gentle Touraine lifestyle, this village offers a timeless interlude.
The village is watched over by its impressive Medieval castle, perched on a rocky spur. Owned by the de Luynes family since the 17th century, this limestone fortress imposes its majestic silhouette on the valley.
Luynes town centre invites you to wander with its narrow streets and typical architecture.
Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Loire Valley, Luynes is the ideal starting point for cycling or walking along the banks of the Loire.
After the effort, enjoy the local gastronomy: Touraine wines and local goat's cheeses will delight your taste buds on the village terraces.
Did you know? Luynes used to be called «Maillé». It wasn't until 1619, when Charles d'Albert, a favourite of Louis XIII, had the land raised to the status of a duchy-peerage, that the town took on its current name.
Luynes offers all the services you need for your stay: supermarket, Saturday morning market, restaurants, a chemist, doctors and many other shops.
